Weeza first visited Assynt after reading The Last Bear, a novel by
local author Mandy Haggith. Both the book and the landscape of Assynt
were such a strong influence on her life that she moved her from her
home in Somerset to Assynt and shifted the focus of her creative life.
All her ideas, and where possible materials are now sourced here, and
until she can find a larger permanent workplace, she works from her
kitchen table in Lochinver. She makes magical crafts such as Bear
Oracles, smudge fans and charms inspired by the landscape and the spirit
of the bears who sleep beneath it. Her latest creative project is Bear
Bottom Meditation mats woven from local fleece so you can sit outside on
the wild hills and contemplate their beauty in warmth and comfort.
