It’s starting to look like Christmas

What a wonderful market year this has been so far! After the long break in 2020 all the stallholders were so keen to get out again, to present their beautiful and unique handmade goods to customers and to have a chat with friends. We have one market left, our special Christmas Market with a great variety of products to choose from and refreshments provided by local charity Culag Community Woodland Trust.

Like in 2019 we will be using the community room as well as the Village Hall to accommodate all stallholders and give enough room for people to browse the stalls and feel covid safe. It’s definitely time to get into the festive spirit! We hope to see you soon.

A New Beginning

We have been busy over the past few months getting everything ready for the 14th of May, our first market of the 2021 season. From setting up the new website and scrubbing the roadside banners outdoors on a sunny day to running short features of stallholder’s work on our Facebook page and instagram, all this contributed to a sense of anticipation. The first market went really well and a big thank you to everyone who visited. It felt great to see fellow stallholders and customers again (old and new), to have a chat across our stalls, slightly muffled by face masks, and to get a feeling of life restarting in the Village Hall after what seems a very long time. Here are a few images from the first market. We very much look forward to the next ones.

Made in Assynt & The Crafty Crofters

In December the previous ‘Made in Assynt’ caretaker informed us that after 8 successful years of organising craft markets and promoting the ‘Made in Assynt’ brand he was ready to pass on the baton.
We, the ‘Crafty Crofters’ had just organised the outdoor Christmas Craft Fair at Glen Canisp and realised we quite enjoyed being on the organisational side of it all. After several Zoom deliberations we therefore decided that we would accept the challenge and take over the ‘Made in Assynt’ website and the organising of the 2021 ‘Made in Assynt’ craft markets.
We realise we have some big shoes to fill as our predecessor put in a lot of work making the markets not just a successful selling platform for a wide range of talented local artists, makers, food producers but also a social hub for local charities to raise funds for their causes and for everyone to enjoy refreshments and a chat.
We are all very aware that 2021 is not going to be an entirely “normal” year and we’re expecting that Covid-19 related restrictions will most likely be with us for some time to come. Despite all the uncertainties this brings we feel positive about the future and look forward to welcoming you to the 2021 ‘Made in Assynt’ craft markets in whichever shape or form they will take place.

We hope to see you all there!
